  1. Event for switching grid from edit to view mode in case of incell editing

    Currently Kendo UI grid don't have any way to know that grid changes its mode from edit to view in case of incell editing.
    As per thread (http://www.telerik.com/forums/is-there-any-way-to-know-grid-edit-mode-changes) we have to add blur/focusout event handler to know changing mode. But some time it happen (in case of adding custom widgets through columns editor) that blur/focusout event triggered but still grid is in edit mode.
    Its better to have an event when grid changes its mode from edit to view so that we can minimize issue mentioned above.

    • Support SEO for SPA

      Currently, there is no way to make a Mobile Application (SPA) search engine friendly. You cannot use the "alternate" and "canonical" tags, since the SPA page is only loaded once. And you can't use Google's suggested #! syntax, since Kendo only supports the # syntax. So there is basically no way to get a Kendo Mobile website indexed properly.

        • DateTimePicker configuration improvements

          It would be great to allow custom configuration of Time drop down in DateTimePicker control.
          Since most occurrences in normal system will take place between normal business hours (7am - 6pm), it would make sense to have the time dropdown start at 7am and then go on from there so it would be:
          7am 8am 9am .... 4pm 5pm 6pm ...... 12am 1am etc.
          This would improve user experience by putting the most commonly selected times first in the dropdown list and reduce the scrolling the user has to perform.

          • Add preload feature to SPA

            Despite the huge bandwidth increases, websites don’t get much faster. This is because the biggest botteneck in loading web pages is latency.

            Latency is inevitable with today’s internet architecture so "cheating" by preloading links you are likely to click on, will speed up a SPA.

            Before visitors click on a link, they hover over that link. Between these two events, 200 ms to 300 ms usually pass by.

            Example implementation: InstantClick makes use of that time to preload the page, so that the page is already there when you click: http://instantclick.io/

              • Show multiple resources without grouping

                There should be the ability to show resources (this is multiple resources) without grouping. All resources will show in a line. This would have worked in our case where we have employees and sub-contractors as two different set of resources but cannot be grouped. We needed to show both the sets on the scheduler at the same time and also assign events across to both sets (so an event can belong to an employee and sub-contractor). The two sets cannot be combined into one resources collection as the resources can have the same Ids

                  • Allow grid via datasource to show dynamically updated aggregates

                    Please add the option for aggregates to be calculated dynamically by the datasource without requiring the grid to carry out a full refresh.

                    The current workaround from forums is:
                    save: function (e) {
                    // Refresh aggregates when editing
                    e.model.one("change", function () {
                    gridDataSource.fetch();
                    });
                    },
                    but as this triggers a refresh of the databound grid, it's current focussed cell is lost.

                    Example methodology for expected behaviour of solution:
                    1) A Config Flag on a datasource to recalculate aggregates when a value has been changed (only valid when aggregates are calculated locally) - this stops from requiring the save event.
                    2)…

                        • Autoscroll Grid when Sortable Widget is implemented on the Grid

                          Using the Sortable Widget on a Grid works great to allow the user to manually sort the grid rows. But if the grid has a vertical scrollbar, the user has to drop the row multiple times to get a row from the top of the grid to the bottom. It would be nice if the grid would Autoscroll when the user gets to bottom of the viewable grid.

                          Thanks,
                          Mike

                          • When scrolling using Grid Virtualization, Queries are executed twice

                            When scrolling data in a grid using the virtualization scrolling option, the query to fetch the next section of data will occur twice. It does not happen for every query, but it does happen all the time regardless of scrolling fast or slow.

                            • Retrieve filtered set from DataSource or Grid

                              In lieu or as part of select-all capability:

                              Expose a way to retrieve the filtered set of data (or keys) in the grid and other filterable controls.

                              In other words, when a user has applied their own filters, there is currently no method to retrieve the filtered set across the entire dataset. That makes implementing a select-all button a bit tricky as you have to either select all on the current page (view) or the entire unfiltered dataset and then apply the filter yourself.

                              • Make kendo grid cells customizable

                                Currently its possible to set static attributes or CSS classes to kendo grid columns by specifying then in column definition:

                                var columns = [{ field: 'someData', title: 'Some Data', attributes { 'class': 'some-css'} }];

                                Please add possibility to add custom attributes or CSS Classes dynamically (depending on data row):

                                var columns = [{ field: 'someData', title: 'Some Data', attributes { 'class': function(dataRow){ return dataRow.data > 1 ? 'css-go-up': 'css-go-down' }} }];

                                Just similar how it works with template for column.

                                Thanks,
                                Val

                                • Make the DropDownList's Up/Down Arrow Keydown Events Bindable When Expanded

                                  Make up/down arrow keydown events fire a DropDownList change event when in the expanded state.

                                  When a user clicks on the DropDownList, the list gets expanded. There is no change event fired for up/down arrow keydown events. I currently have to intercept the up/down keydown events manually. Having up/down arrow keydown events fire a change event would make the widget more intuitive and helpful for user interactions.

                                  • Switch control support long text labels

                                    The switch control does not currently support long text labels so only text such as ON and OFF are suitable.

                                    The widget width will not auto expand according to text length so if you want to use text such as Active or Inactive it is restricted.

                                    While an additional <label> element can be used to describe the control we find that having the action wording within the control an efficient way to display it.

                                      • DataViz Chart should support drawing a horizontal line

                                        If you need to draw a horizontal line in Kendo DataViz Chart (to express desired target value for budget consumption, for example), you have now only two possibilities using line series or plot bands. Unfortunately both approaches have drawbacks:

                                        1) Using additional line series
                                        In this case the line doesn't start at the beginning of the image of the chart, there is visible margin. Also, the determining of number of values for the line series is painful in case you have multiple series with different value counts bind on server side.

                                        2) Using plot bands
                                        In this case the actual…

                                        • MVVM Binding ViewModel Source

                                          It would be nice if it will be possible to bind multiple viewmodel to a single DOM container. Like xaml binding in witch you can specify a "Binding Source" adding a simple way to specify different viewmodel can help in many real situation. The solution can be accomplished very easily. If you introduce an override of kendo.bind in witch u can specify a key string for identify a viewmodel then with a data attribute or a custom binding you can filter when activate or not the bindings.
