  1. TagCloud

    I'd like to suggest a TagCloud just like the one in Telerik Ajax offering.

    • Slider for Grid pageing

      It would be nice if its possible to slide threw the pages in a grid by using a slider in the footer.

      • 'Lazy' load window content

        When using the LoadContentFrom() in a tab inside a Tabstrip, the tab content does not get loaded until it become visible.
        Please consider making the Kendo Window behave like the TabStrip when a window use the LoadContentFrom() method, loading the content only when it become visible.

          • Don't force us to use .data

            It's a relieve that we can use $('#grid').kendoGrid('refresh') already. Thank you guys!

            However, it still seems to be a problem when we need to get the instance of a created componente.

            For example, if you need to access the grid's thead element, the only possible way is through $('#grid').data('kendoGrid').thead. If I try do this the natural way, (e.g. $('#grid').kendoGrid().thead), my grid is reinitialized. That's a pain.

            The expected behavior for most experienced jQuery users is that if plugin is aready instantiated for a specific element, calling it's initializer method should return the instance, instead of creating it again.

            Other than…

            • Change Style of deleted row rather than removing it, Grid Batch Editing

              Currently we use batch editing in the Grid control. The idea of batch editing is all changes are retained client side until the user presses the save button.

              When editing a cell a red dirty indicator is placed on the cell. This gives the user an indication that there are unsaved changes. however, when deleting a row, the row just goes away. There is no indication the user must still save.

              I would like to see rather than the record immediately removed a class applied to the row so we can apply some style like a strikethrough or red background…

              • Add shorthand method to set Id for form widget helpers

                Please consider adding a short-hand method to set the id of form element widgets such as:
                Html.Kendo().DatePicker().Name("StartDate").Id("FormA_StartDate");

                The code above looks a lot cleaner and more fluent and the one below.
                Html.Kendo().DatePicker().Name("StartDate").HtmlAttributes( new { id = "FormA_StartDate"} );

                This really comes in handy when building large single page application (SPA) where many entry forms are loaded onto a single page. Manually setting the Id property for widget elements help avoid potential html elements' id conflicts when we have Kendo form widgets of the same name.

                • Draggable delay

                  Delay on draggable items.
                  When you have draggable items all around the site (not that much but many of them).
                  If you try to scroll (on mobile devices) you may activate the draggable event of an item. So in these cases it would be useful if it waits some time (customizable) before it starts dragging the item.
                  Something like in jQueryUI: http://jqueryui.com/demos/draggable/#delay-start

                      • Allow client details templates for server bindings

                        I would like the possibility to use client details templates for server bound grids (and maybe other components). That is - the main grid should be fully loaded when the page loads (without ajax requests), but the details should be loaded on demand (when clicking the > icon) via ajax.

                        • custom css classname

                          Hi,

                          I good idea could be if we can define a "Top Level Class Name" for css class to custom stylesheet produced by themebuilder.

                          Example:
                          Image to use one of your standard stylesheet

                          if i have

                          in my page (razor)

                          @(Html.Kendo().DropDownList().Name("ControlName") ... )

                          that for sure render with the theme loaded in html header section

                          and after i put

                          <div class="MyCustomClassNameForKendoUiWidget">
                          @(Html.Kendo().DropDownList().Name("ControlName2")
                          </div>

                          that will be render with an different stylesheet loaded in header section of my page and that was produced by your ThemeBuilder

                          What i obtain is to use different styles for KendoUI widget in same page.

                          • Have different icon sets (including Legacy) as options in themes

                            All of your templates use the exact same sprites. Your themes just change the colors, which we can do from the themebuilder. I think it would be more beneficial to have some different 'looks'. For example, you have the 'Legacy' MVC themes available. Not only do they use a different set of sprites, but they look different and there are like 13 of them.

                            As Kendo UI is now, there are 5 themes and they are all pretty much the same, with different colors.

                            Please provide other options. Please make the MVC 'Legacy' themes part of the standard Kendo themes.…

                            • Add the ability to display the Show/Hide Column menu by right clicking the Column Header

                              Add the ability to display the Show/Hide Column menu by right clicking the Column Header instead of going through the "Column Menu".

                              It would also be nice if you could access the Filter directly instead of going through the "Column Menu"

                              The current Column Menu unnecessarily hides functionality in a menu that should be more easily accessible.

                                We’re not sure how much right-click access to the column chooser improves discoverability or usability of this feature. We’ll wait for more feedback and comments. Thanks for sharing the idea!

                              • Make grid (or data source) parse related object property types

                                Currently when a grid is bound to a model with related objects and properties via JSON, the grid will only parse the top level object types and treat and related properties as generic objects hence dates are not dates anymore, etc.

                                Please consider having the grids parse related object properties and data types so there isn't a need for flattened ViewModels in order to properly visualize related data and be able to filter and sort it correctly.

                                • Compare grid columns

                                  Hi,

                                  We use your kendo grid and it's great. Our users use a lot of filtering, sorting, etc.. One capability which is lacking is a way to compare columns. Now you filter a column based on a value (is greater than 5). It would be great if users could enter a value or another column. The user should be able to select that column from the list. This list should contain all column titles.

                                  This would be a great addition.

                                    Provide graph control that could display relations between people, objects, etc.

                                    • Adding .k-state-disabled class to controls after "disable" event or add :disabled pseudo-class for controls in common css

                                      You have this .k-state-disabled class in kendo.css but it's not used in scripts. That's why I forced to copy all .k-state-disabled class styles to new class like

                                      .k-button:disabled, .k-button:disabled:hover, .k-button:disabled:active {
                                      background-color: #E3E3E3;
                                      border-color: #C5C5C5;
                                      color: #9F9E9E;
                                      opacity: 0.7;
                                      cursor: default;
                                      outline: 0 none;
                                      }

                                      (this is my temporary solution)

                                      • DreamWeaver Tags

                                        While I think it is great you guys are doing support for Visual Studio where is the support for DreamWeaver? Is there anyone working on this? There is a jQuery Mobile set of tags in the "Insert" section of the IDE. It would be great if we had a set of tools for Kendo UI Web, Charting and Mobile.

                                        • Grid loading indicator not working when no height is set

                                          The loading indicator is not showing when the height property of a grid is not set.
