We have the same need.  In our calendar, we have different event types.  Some are maintained within the scheduler itself, and some are just view-only, informational events from other sources.  However the scheduler only allows schedule-level read-only behavior, and we need to control it event-by-event.

Read Only view elaboration: Ability to show a read only or editable view template based on some attribute (IsInRole()) of the authenticated user. Where decision is based on a per-calendar item basis (ie. user may be allowed to edit this item but not another item based on role or other item attribute (ex. ownership)).

Any news about this idea?
