  1. UI Web Listview Endless Scrolling

    Just like in the grid and mobile listview, i would like to see an endless scroll option (or serverside paging with virtual scroll) in the Web version of ListView.

      Petyo Ivanov responded

      Hi everyone,

      We reviewed the suggestion and its implications. Unlike its mobile equivalent, the Web ListView does not impose any restrictions to the items layout. This means that the complete implementation of this feature should work pretty much like https://www.pinterest.com/ (warning – the site may feature partial nudity or other explicit content on its home screen).

      We identified the following features:

      - multiple items per row
      - Items with different height, which seem to feature some distribution algorithm
      - virtualization – Items that exit the viewport are removed from the DOM
      - reordering and persistence on resize

      In addition to the above, we are aware of requirements such as:
      - fixed headers
      - support for deep linking / scrolling to a given item

      Worth mentioning is that complete, reliable support for the above requires an adequate back-end implementation, and, most likely a specialized data source implementation.

      Based on our experience…

    • Built in PDF Viewer control for Both Kendo UI and Kendo UI Mobile

      It would be nice to have a built in PDF viewer control in the Kendo UI and Kendo UI Mobile. Especially Mobile so we do not have to search the net for decent controls that may or may not work for the different devices.

      • populate a menu from a DataSource

        It would be great to be able to simply connect the menu widget to a DataSource to populate. It will allow for a data driven menu, instead of having to handle that logic on the client side.

          I would suggest to enter the function menu script that is described in the following link. This is an interesting application that really makes it easy to navigate the menus user an.

            This feature would require support for item templates in the menu. Presently we don’t have immediate plans to support this functionality.

          • Add Right To Left PDF support

            Kendo UI supports PDF export. It would be great if you could add glyph mirroring support to it as well (https://github.com/mozilla/pdf.js/blob/master/src/core/bidi.js). PDF export of RTL languages such as Arabic and Persian need this trick to work properly.

            • ImageBrowser as a standalone widget

              I've been playing around with the ImageBrowser (Editor) and would love to see a variation of the ImageBrowser as a standalone widget. If I could use it without the Editor to simply select or upload an image file that would really add value to some of my applications (for which I now have to use a different tool: elFinder).

              Since the ImageBrowser already exists, hopefully this would be an easy addition to the KendoUI toolset! :)

              • Add a Timeline visualization widget for displaying events and data points on a timeline

                It would be great to have a true Timeline control for showing events overtime on a scrollable axis.

                  It would be a great help if there was a way to add a Trendline to a line chart in the DataViz collection. This function is available in excel and other similar programs.

                  • Support binding of DateTimePicker to type DateTimeOffset

                    Globalized applications use the DateTimeOffset type instead of DateTime since it includes the offset from UTC for different time zones. If DateTimePicker could bind to this type it would simplify UI development. It would have to have the offset or timezone value provided as either a property or as a second binding.

                    • Marker Clustering support on Kendo UI Map

                      Add marker clustering support to the Kendo UI DataViz Map control.
                      If you are viewing a map with many markers nearby, they should group together so that the map is more pleasing to the eye.

                      This functionality already exists in the Telerik Silverlight Map control and it would be great to see similar functionality here.

                      Here's an example of what I want: http://demos.telerik.com/silverlight/#Map/Cluster

                        • Crop and resize gui widget for images

                          At typical usecase for web applications is to let the user upload and image (portrait, avatar, picutre of real estate etc.) and then resize and crop it to a specific contrain.

                          An easy widget for handling the cropping and resizing might come handy for many.

                          There are solution for cropping and also resizing in jquery plugins already, however a successful and pretty combo of the two seems to lack a bit.

                          Inspiration:

                            • Angular and Kendo Window

                              It would be really nice to have an easy way to dynamically create Kendo Windows in AngularJS. And also with separate controller and template.

                              https://github.com/kjartanvalur/angular-kendo-window

                              Here i´m trying to do this but it would be really good to have a similar way integrated into Kendo. There is also a demo on the repo.

                                Thanks for the proposal and for the reference to your implementation, Kjartan. We’ll have it in mind when developing the Angular 2 integration for our Kendo UI window widget.

                              • .Where, .Select, .Single, .OrderBy, First on ObservableArray

                                It would be exponentially helpful if the "ObservableArray" implemented some basic "Where/Select/Single" methods. This would assist in searching through them and give Kendo UI a much needed facelift in the array department.

                                Behavior would be, theoretically, as follows...

                                var viewModel = kendo.observable({
                                Users: [
                                {
                                id: 1,
                                name: "Stacey"
                                },
                                {
                                id: 2,
                                name: "Dylan"
                                },
                                {
                                id: 3,
                                name: "John"
                                }
                                ]
                                });

                                var idSearch = 1;

                                var result = kendo.Search(viewModelArray).Where(function(x) { return x.id == idSearch });

                                or ...

                                var result = kendo.Search(viewModelArray)
                                .Single(function(x) { return x.id == idSearch });

                                or possibly even chained like in "linqjs"

                                var result…

                                • Vertical Grid / Property Grid

                                  Add a new Kendo UI component to display a record vertically (Or add an option to the existing grid to change the orientation of the records).

                                  Usually, I was using vertical grid to display a single record but some people might need it to display more than one record (ex: when you compare items on best-buy web site)

                                  The vertical grid could also be used as a property grid (http://www.telerik.com/products/silverlight/controls/propertygrid.aspx).

                                  • Spreadsheet: Additional events

                                    Currently the API is very much limited to what is possible in the frontend in my opinion. It would be great if you could add events like:
                                    - A cell/range was selected
                                    - A cell was cut/pasted/copied
                                    - The context menu was initialized
                                    - A row/column was added
                                    - A row was added/deleted/hidden
                                    - A cell's content was modified
                                    ...
                                    ...

                                    • Export: Ability to export the grid in CSV and XML formats

                                      The ability to export a grid to excel has been a great addition, we would like the ability to export in CSV and XML also.

                                        • Validation is both a client-side and a server-side issue

                                          Please think the Kendo UI validation farmework not only in terms of client-side validation but also in terms of reporting server-side errors.

                                          A framework that would only provide a way to display a validation error message based on a client-side rule after each related input field would not be very helpful in my opinion.

                                          All errors need to be reported in a consistent way. My preferred option is:
                                          - a message box at the top of a form to display all messages including OK messages and error messages (client-side and server-side).
                                          - higlighted fields with tooltips (not to clutter the…

                                            Thanks for the thorough feedback on validation. It will be conveyed to our devs to be taken into account while developing the validation extensions for the framework.
