  1. Add "url" option for popup editing in grid

    I have a list of entities with a large set of fields, but I don't want to load and display all of them in the grid. Entities have also a couple of complex properties which are displayed via checkbox lists.

    Though, I want them to appear when editing a single entity.

    For now, I'm using custom "create" and "edit" pages, but it would be great to have an "url" option for popup editing. This url would return some html (MVC partial view in my case) which would be rendered in the popup window.

    • Create a standard way to handle errors in the Upload control

      When using inline/batch/popup editing for grids, there is a standard way to handle server-side validation errors (from the ModelState) on the client : http://blogs.telerik.com/kendoui/posts/13-08-29/handling-server-side-validation-errors-in-your-kendo-ui-grid

      When using the Upload control, the proposed solution is to use XMLHttpRequest.status and XMLHttpRequest.statusText, which is currently not very reliable, and complicated to handle. It's also a non-standard way in ASP.Net MVC, and breaks existing best-practices for error handling.

      There should be a way to handle ModelState errors on upload.

      • Editor option to stop using current style on enter key

        It would be nice to have a boolean property with the Editor to detect an enter keypress, and end the current style. We have custom css classes that the user "can't get out of" without going into the html view. Another option would be a tool that would "end formatting" so that further content would be unformatted.

        This problem can be seen at one of the demos, http://demos.telerik.com/kendo-ui/web/editor/styles.html. Go to the end of the content, type something, choose the "highlight" style, hit enter. The style is permanent until you use the arrow key down or click below the current…

        • Ability to start the ListView at any point in a ListView when endlessScroll is on.

          When you have a ListView that can show thousands of records (presumably using a remote dataSource), it would be very useful to be able to start at a given point in the list, rather than having to start at the top of the list and scroll down thousands of records to get to the point you want.

          This is currently possible to do when you have a ListView with set number of records that are all displayed at once by using the view's .scrollTo() function, but not possible when endlessScroll is on on the ListView.

          Here is my original support…

          • Pass the event name into the event handlers arg, so we can write generic event handlers

            Hi there,

            I would be great if you could pass the event name into event handlers, as we can't pass any additional args in, like we can with jquery events, so we can write generic event handlers that can detect the event type and handle it.

            Regards,

            Scott

            • Encrypting data automatically

              One of key areas for enterprises is data security. If we can add the capability of encrypting data via kendo datasource, it would be awesome.
              This encryption should automatically happen when data is received from a service using the encryption algorithm specified as an attribute of kendo datasource. Similarly, decryption should also happen when the datasource receives the encrypted data.

              • Fix Upload Remove bug

                The suggested way to omit the Remove button is to not provide a Remove URL/Action. However this breaks the list of the async upload such that the list doesn't get cleared with each new upload. Since its an async upload that automatically uploads, there no point in accumulating a list of uploads. Whether or not you expose a remove button shouldn't be tied in any way to the clearing of the list when a new upload is made. That should only affect the availability of a remove button. At the very least you could provide some documentation on this quirky…

                • The kendo grid column command configuration attribute should accept a function

                  The command button set should be configurable on a per row basis. This can be accomplished by accepting a lambda function for the column.command configuration attribute. Presently only a string or array is accepted

                    • Miscellaneous text annotations for all charts in Kendo UI DataViz

                      We need functionality to allow annotations to charts (e.g. free text).

                      We need to annotate our charts with text that is:

                      - not a series value or note
                      - not a category note
                      - has no relationship with the plot data
                      - not a title

                      An example is text outlining the source of the data,

                      We have succeeded in annotating charts with Snap.svg.js but the annotations do not survive the imageDataUrl() function for download (or the svg() function).

                      Axis & series notes won't achieve what we want to do.

                      We need to place free text (for example) at the top-left,…

                      • Migrate source code to TypeScript

                        I've been using the kendo.all.d.ts TypeScript definitions file from the beginning. While its quality has increased significantly overtime, it continues to have a lot of errors and omissions. I understand the Kendo UI TS definitions file is generated from the Kendo UI documentation. So the quality of the TS definitions file is only ever going to be as good as the documentation. And that's where the errors and omissions come from. Not everything is documented or documented correctly. I think the best Kendo UI TS definitions file can only be created when the Kendo UI source code itself is migrated…

                          • Allow HTML attributes to be incrementally added to controls via an AddAttribute like method

                            Currently on WidgetBuilderBase there is an HtmlAttributes method that clears any current HTML attributes before adding the new ones. It would be good if there was a separate method called maybe AddAttributes (or something similar) that would allow the addition of HTML attributes without clearing any existing ones.

                              • Kendo Web - Mobile as ListView - search field should not be scrollable

                                In Kendo Web - Mobile as ListView - search field should not be scrollable, only listings should be scrollable.

                                If user scrolls down couple of pages down and now he wants improvise the search, then again he has to scroll back to type in search field. If only listing scrollable then search field is always visible where user can type whenever wanted.
                                I dont know how this is missed in the current release. This is very basic.

                                • DataSource's "read", "fetch", and "sync" methods should return a deferred

                                  There has been many scenarios where I've needed to know when a DataSource finishes a "read" or "sync" operation.

                                  I know there's the global "sync" event that I can bind to, but a lot of the time I only care about the result of one specific sync call. I can use the "one" method to only listen to it once, but this complicates things when I also care about errors. Since I need to register callbacks for both the "sync" and "error" events, and then unregister either one or the other, depending on which event fired.

                                  It's even harder hooking…

                                  • Add new attribute that the Validator will detect and skip validation on that element/widget

                                    Add new attribute that the Validator will detect and skip validation on that element/widget.

                                    Eg; skip-validation="true"
                                    <input type="text" required />

                                    and then at run time you could toggle the skip-validation attribute.

                                    <input type="text" required skip-validation="true" />

                                    This would be perfect for complex forms where you are togging the visibility of div container of controls depending on what options that user selects in the form.

                                    The problem is at the moment, the validation will validate controls that are not visible. Having a skip-validation attribute would solve this problem, as when you hide the div container you cold also toggle the skip-validation…

                                    • Treeview ScrollIntoView feature

                                      :upon selecting an item, either by click or programmatically,

                                      $(tv).scrollIntoView(item) with would bring the item into view, even in multilevel nested, hierarchical, situations.

                                      that would be very sweet!!
                                      I have tried JQuery.scrollTo but have had no success in nested <li>
                                      scenarios.
                                      thanks

                                      item will scroll into view

                                      • Datasource filter "contains" on schema "number" with ignorecase item errors

                                        Create a datasource with a schema that has number fields.

                                        Try to filter by one of these fields using a "contains" and an ignorecase and kendoui creates an expression like

                                        (function(d, __f, __o) {
                                        return ((d.MyNumber || '').toLowerCase().indexOf('12') >= 0)
                                        })

                                        this errors because the number does not have a toLowerCase() method.

                                        Our code is generic and we do not want to have to change ignorecase depending on the data-type, as sometime the filter will be on a string and sometimes on a number. Can a fix be put in place to allow this combination to run without error.

                                        Thanks.

                                        • Support Native (HTML5) Drag & Drop

                                          This will improve visual drag performance.

                                          Fall back to existing (scripted) drag and drop implementation for browsers without native support.
